Peet's Coffee: Major Dickason's Blend

Peet's Coffee: Major Dickason's Blend
There's a pretty funny story behind this review. Paula, my wife, spent most of last week in San Jose, CA, obtaining a Cisco certification. During her free time, what little she had, her mission was to find me a locally roasted coffee to review. For one reason or another she didn't have much luck and grabbed this Major Dickason's blend from  Peet's Coffee, in the airport on her way home.

So after she's home we make a trip to Walmart, and what do we see? The exact same blend of coffee sitting on the shelf for $4.00 less per bag. Needless to say, we both had a good laugh.

Checking aromas from the bag there were pleasant notes of coffee and cocoa. The pour-over process created a large frothy bloom, with aroma notes of coffee and warm bread. From the cup I could smell notes of coffee and caramel.

With the first sips this Major Dickason's Blend is, rich, deep and full bodied. It has a syrupy mouth-feel and leaves my mouth salivating for another sip. The piping hot coffee has flavors of sandalwood, earth, cocoa and a bit of underlying spiciness. As it cools the body increases and the cocoa nuances develop becoming deeper and richer with nearly each sip.

I found this Major Dickason's blend from Peet's coffee to be rich and satisfying with flavors and body that continue to develop as the coffee cools.

It earns a 4.8 out of 5 star rating.
