Grizzly Claw From Kicking Horse Coffee

Kicking Horse Coffee

Roast: Dark
Brewing method: Pour-over

Once the bag of Grizzly Claw From Kicking Horse Coffee is opened a full and hearty aroma of coffee and earthy chocolate rise up to greet my nose.

After grinding the oily, caramelized, city + roast whole beans the coffee had the same full bodied chocolate aroma, but there's a subtle hint of whiskey present.

Wet from the pour-over the aroma gets even bigger. Again, earthy chocolate is the dominate aroma, but now there's a light note of apricots present.

From the cup the first sips are full bodied, syrupy and slightly sweet with just a touch of well rounded brightness that produces a clean wash across the palate. The main flavor of lightly sweet chocolate is present all through the temperature range, but the smooth earthy flavor notes develop as the coffee cools in the cup.

Kicking Horse Coffee describes this coffee as decadent and I must agree. I've never tried this before, but I paired this coffee with some dark chocolate and the flavor combination and mouthfeel was nothing short of spectacular.

I thought this Grizzly Paw dark roast brewed a fantastic cup that a person could drink for breakfast, all day, or with desert. Give it a try and see what you think!
